Steve Reeves
I have been exploring the sublime rugged landscape of
Wales ever since I was a child; now that I live here the
fascination has only increased.
Stiles are the gateways
or portals to discover new adventures.
As you leave the
present world behind you are confronted with new environments
such as forests, fields, moors and mountains. These habitats that
were once familiar to our ancestors are today alien to the way
we live our lives, enslaved by the culture of modern society.
Alone on foot you are at the mercy of the elements and
the terrain, also the fear of getting lost, injured or attacked with
only the glimpse of the next stile to give you hope,
determination and direction. This is an experience our ancestors
would have been aware of when their journeys passed the
threshold of an open stile.
I started an evening class
in art at Wirral Metropolitan College and worked my way from
A level to a B.A Hons in Fine Art. I am currently employed
as a Learning Support Technician and Tutor within the art
department at a college of further
education.
