Derec Jones
I am a painter, writer and filmmaker. I started painting and studying art, with the West Wales School of the Arts, about 4 years ago and had my first exhibition last November at the Neville Gallery in Llanelli. It was a great success and I sold a few paintings there. I’ll never forget the feeling of loss when I handed over the first one to the first buyer. I usually start with an idea of what I want to paint and then let the work develop organically. I work mainly in acrylics on canvas and I paint because I have to – it’s become a pleasant necessity. I will take on commissions to a loose brief. I occasionally work as a computer and creative writing teacher, having got both an MA in Creative Writing and a teaching certificate a few years ago.
